Philosophy in Action

Philosophy in Action is weekly webcast that seeks to explain and apply rational philosophic principles to the challenges of living a happy and virtuous life. It was launched in October 2010 as the Rationally Selfish Webcast, then renamed in November 2011. It features philosopher Dr. Diana Hsieh, with the assistance of Greg Perkins.

Diana Hsieh, Ph.D

Dr. Diana Hsieh is a philosopher specializing in practical ethics. She received her Ph.D in philosophy from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2009. Her dissertation argued that Thomas Nagel's "problem of moral luck" can be resolved by an Aristotelian theory of moral responsibility. She began podcasting in 2009, then webcasting in 2010.

Diana blogs at NoodleFood and podcasts at NoodleCast. Her other active projects include Explore Atlas Shrugged, Modern Paleo, and OList.com. She also contributes to Front Range Objectivism, the Coalition for Secular Government, and Freedom and Individual Rights in Medicine. Diana lives with her husband Paul Hsieh and a small menagerie of beasts in Sedalia, Colorado.

Greg Perkins

Greg Perkins is a software architect working in the R&D labs at Hewlett-Packard, Boise. His degree is in mathematics and computer science. Greg has studied Objectivism for approximately fifteen years. He created and manages Objectivist Answers and The Objectivism Seminar. Aside from work and philosophy, he plays jazz saxophone professionally with groups such as The Sidemen and Onomatopoeia, and enjoys mountain biking, summit-scrambling, and snowboarding. Greg and his wife Tammy were married on July 4, 2007 in Galt's Gulch and live together in Boise, Idaho.
